My Truck Photo

I've been playing around with HDR photography. Basically you take 3 pictures of the same thing at different exposures...then merge them together with software and tweak the contrast etc... I'm pretty much horrible at it right now....you can goolge HDR photography to see cool ones. After I did all the HDR work to the photo I then found a freebie action that divided the photo into little pieces of paper! Pretty cool looking.....hope you all like it =) - Chad

Nice work Chad! What type of camera did you buy? We're looking at getting one too.

It's a long story....I'm currently camera-less right now. We bought a Canon XTi SLR and it came with some lenses. However after reading and researching and deciding that I think I want to jump into this hobby....I have taken back the lenses already, and will be taking back the body today.

With that said, I'm getting a Canon EOS 5D, with a 35mm F/1.4L USM prime lens.

If your just gonna be an auto-shooter, then the XTi is a good one...however knowing Jess...she will probably be a great manual shooting photographer and really take advantage of what the camera/lens can do. So if you don't wanna drop the coin for the 5D...the 20D, 30D are awesome as well. Note that the lens is what really matters. Kam gave me a good pointer about lenses....buy Canon and look for the L series..superb image quality. Always shoot in RAW format or the max jpeg if you don't care for RAW. Prime lenses are the best image quality, but the L series zoom lenses are pretty stinking sweet as well...and people like the zoom for getting better shots. I'm looking hard at getting the L series 70-200mm F/2.8L IS USM because the images are near prime quality with the flexibility of using a zoom....be ready to drop some coin however =(

If you want a mix of both auto and manual shooting...I would go with an XTi or 20D...just get a nice lens at least...you will notice the difference.

Hope that helps...I'm a totaly noob at this stuff, but have researched for days now since I've been waiting for my lens to come in the mail =)
